Mission of Mercy to Iraq During the US/UN Sanctions
In order to bring the effects of the US/UN sanctions to the awareness of more people Farah Michelle Kimball traveled to Iraq with 90 other dedicated American peace activists led by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark. Also in Iraq, they met with Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Gabriel Kassab of Basra, who organized a medical pharmacy and schools for both Muslims and Christians living together.
Though the 4 million dollars of medicines they collected and delivered represented little more than a drop of water on a piece of scorched earth, this mission was primarily made to show love and support for the Iraqi people, and to show the American public the devastation that was imposed by their government’s policy.
