Music For World Peace: Sufi Dhikrs by the PeaceDance Ensemble
2001 © International Peace Project/FOR
Chants of praise in the language of the angels and in the rhapsody of Rumi come alive on this CD of sacred remembrance. We are indebted to the late Sheikh Abdoulaye Dieye of Senegal, Africa, head of a branch of the Muridiyyah Sufi Order, who shared these chants with us and inspired us to embellish them using the enlightened talents of musicians playing instruments from all over the world in beautiful harmony. We pray these chants inspire and convey the profound sacred adventure through Divine Love and Peace experienced in producing this CD, dedicated to world peace.
A Word of Caution
Sufi chants have traditionally been practiced, performed and listened to only under the direction of an authentic spiritual guide who is involved in the spiritual and orthodox practices of Islam. The chants on this CD may be listened to as sacred music, but are not meant to be used or listened to as a spiritual practice, outside of their sacred context and without specific guidance.
